How to Market Your Etsy Shop on TikTok

tiktok

TikTok has become more than a platform for teens to show their dancing skills. It’s now a platform for content creators ranging from medical experts and comedians to crafters.

TikTok is now one of the hottest platforms for brands to market their products, which is why you can use it to promote your Etsy business!

What is TikTok?

TikTok is a video-sharing platform where users can share their content for others to see. Think of YouTube, but with shorter videos in vertical mode. With already almost a billion users, it is an ideal place to market your Etsy shop.

Getting Started on TikTok

First, set up a personal account on TikTok. Once you already have your personal account, you have to switch it to a business account (don’t worry, it’s free). Why business account? So you can link it to your Etsy shop.

When you have switched to a business account, you can choose a category describing your business. You can also change it later on if needed.

Important Fields to Update

Profile Picture

Use the same image as your Etsy store icon. It can even be the same file, as long as it is no larger than 720 × 720 pixels.

Bio

Your TikTok bio can be the same as your Etsy shop bio. Make it on point and brief. Make it known to your followers that you are a maker and what items you create. Most importantly, let them know where they can buy your products.

Website

Link your Etsy shop here. You can link to a particular listing if you’re focusing on selling a specific item. Or simply link your Etsy shop URL.

How to Create a TikTok Video

Before you post a video on TikTok, you have to give access to your microphone and camera. TikTok allows you to upload footage from your camera roll or record your video.

You may use the TikTok camera to add effects, filters, soundtracks, and other eye-catching features to your video to make it more interesting. This is where you can get creative and create something truly unique.

So, while starting, have fun and film yourself creating your items. As you gain more experience filming videos and connecting with your followers, everything else will fall into place.

Video Ideas

If you have difficulty thinking about what to post, here are some ideas you can use.

Show How You Create Your Products

TikTok may be used to showcase your product creation process from beginning to end. “Watch me make” videos are pretty popular, especially if they only show close-up details of the acts you’re performing rather than a voice-over, step-by-step procedure.

Show Off Your New Products

TikTok is an excellent channel for creating buzz. If you have an exciting new product on the way, utilize TikTok to provide a sneak preview. People enjoy exclusivity, and if you show your TikTok followers something that no one else is, they will feel particularly special.

A Day in The Life

People are naturally curious. TikTok is an excellent medium for sharing “behind the scenes” or “small company owner” insights with your audience. It may be something minor, but if it’s fascinating, it will spread like wildfire!

Respond to Comments

Use TikTok to thank customers who gave you 5-star reviews. You’re both talking about your product receiving five stars and demonstrating that you’re a real person who appreciates the feedback. TikTok may also be used to respond to comments made on other social media platforms. Answer the question not just on Facebook but also on TikTok!

Address Misconceptions

You’ve probably heard the phrase “your product costs so much, only for that?”

This is a serious and often annoying misconception. And TikTok is an excellent tool for addressing and correcting this misunderstanding and many others.

If your product is premium and does not compete on price, utilize TikTok to demonstrate how it is unique. Show how you manufacture your things and why you do it that way. People like discovering stuff they had no idea they were mistaken about!

Packaging Orders

You’ve undoubtedly had an unboxing experience — the thrill of receiving something new in the mail and beginning to unwrap and use it for the first time. The opposite process – boxing – is strangely pleasurable for many people and makes for amazing content.

Show Them You are Different

How do you go the extra mile? What materials do you utilize? Or the charity to which you contribute? Is it because of the extra care you put into your products? TikTok fans enjoy this material, so make it and share it!

TikTok Best Practices

There are a few “golden rules” to follow to guarantee that your content is real and appealing to your target audience without being overtly commercial.

Be Genuine

If you only use your account for live selling, you won’t attract many followers. People want to know more about you and what separates you from others.

Consistency

The more you post, the more you will gain. Three postings a day is a wonderful method to encourage healthy growth, but it is a goal to strive for. Don’t compromise quality to supply quantity.

Show You’re Also Vulnerable

Business isn’t always straightforward. Like life, it has its challenges. There’s no need to flaunt your dirty laundry on TikTok (or other social media platforms), but it may be a good method to highlight your business behind the scenes and what it takes to manage one.

You’ll spend some time making TikTok videos, so don’t limit yourself to just one platform. Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest are all known to like short, punchy videos, similar to your TikTok material! You might also post your TikTok clip to YouTube as a “short.”
