When you’re running an Etsy shop, like anything else in life, you need to plan your shop, because the more planned out and prepared you are, the better.
“Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.” – John Wooden.
So make lists and plan things out. This way you are going to be able to tell when you stay on path, or veer off of it. It’s a type of roadmap.
Keeping Up With Your Growth or Losses
The key to tracking that is knowing and keeping up with the three metrics that you use to track your growth. Website traffic, email opt-ins, and email conversion. Before you make any plans, find the best and weakest of these and work to fix it.
Once you continuously track your stats, don’t let any of these metrics fall turn into a weakness in your business. Experiment with different email headlines and calls to action to see what works the best. Don’t let other ideas, improvements, or projects get in the way of these. There’s always going to be ways to improve and there’s always going to more you can do. Don’t take on too much.
Keep Moving Forward as You Plan Your Shop
Don’t go backward after improving an aspect of your business like conversions. Don’t get them up to where they should be, and fall back into your similar pattern.
If you continue to set goals, then this shouldn’t happen to you.
Make Your System Flexible
This is another thing that can hold progression back. There’s almost no way your store and business are going to be exactly where you thought after 6 months or so.
Your specific goals and interests might not even be the same.
Set Big Goals While You Plan Your Shop
Think of ideas or places you could see your shop going. Now go a little above that and make that your goal for the year.
Have anything that you could be doing and experimenting with, but have been afraid to try? Make that a goal.
Do not stay in your comfort zone at all. This is going to negate any progress we talked about in the second step. What is the worst thing that could happen if you actually went for it this year?
